Types of Memorial
Traditional Book of Remembrance
Carefully bound by hand in traditional, natural materials, the book of remembrance provides a permanent and beautiful memorial.
There is a separate volume for each quarter of the year, with the volume for the current quarter on display in the Remembrance Room at the front of the crematorium. The page is turned to display entries for the current day and the inscription can refer to the date your loved one died, a birthday or other significant date. If a funeral took place elsewhere but you would like a more local place to visit, you are welcome to place an entry in our Book of Remembrance. There are vases in the Remembrance Room where you can leave fresh flowers.
In order to maintain the security of the building and the Book itself, the Remembrance Room is only available to view during crematorium opening hours (9am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday).
If you're unable to visit the crematorium on the specific date of the inscription you wish to view, we can turn the page to the appropriate date on request providing your visit during the same quarter.
Entries in the book are for two, five or eight lines and inscribed by our calligrapher. Five and eight line entries may also include an emblem, perhaps a flower, a sporting or hobby symbol or a family coat of arms. The choice of illustration is almost limitless, but please contact us if you require any help or advice.
Memorial Cards are also available and contain a replica of your loved one’s entry inscribed by the same artist. The cards are suitable for sending to relatives and friends who may be unable to visit the crematorium.
The Barbican Memorial
The striking Barbican memorial is available for dedication. In sera grey with emerald pearl granite plaques, each can be engraved with a personal inscription and a wide range of designs can be added. The plaques are available on a five or ten year lease which may be renewed. Should you choose not to renew the dedication, you may collect the plaque and the space is then re-allocated.
Memorial Vase Tablet
A traditional form of memorial, the granite memorial vase tablet is available in a variety of colours. The tablet may be personalised with designs and photographs of your loved ones and is dedicated for a period of 50 years. The memorial vase tablet is purchased as a package, inclusive of the right of burial for two sets of cremated remains, interment and memorial with inscribed lettering.
Memorial Trees
There are a limited number of trees available for dedication on a ten year lease. Bronze plaques engraved with a personal inscription with a wide range of designs that can be added are mounted on a stem and placed at the base of the tree. Should you choose not to renew the dedication, you may collect the plaque and the space is then re-allocated.
Memorial Jewellery
We understand just how much you treasure the memory of your loved ones and the burying or scattering of their ashes is such a final farewell. Using a patented process of fusing a small amount of ashes into crystal glass and precious jewellery, we have a jeweller who has developed a unique range of memorial products by which to remember your loved one. Our jewellery collection is available in sterling silver or 9ct gold. Please contact us for more information.
Memorial Paperweight
The design of the paperweight represents a spiritual embrace. The ashes are displayed in the paperweight on the crests of the swirls and your personal message is engraved underneath.
Caskets and Urns
A selection of memorial caskets, urns and keepsakes are available for interment or to display at home.
